Tanner Music was established in 1998 by John Tanner, providing music composition, arranging and sound design, audio recording and post-production. In 2006, Tanner Music became Tanner-Monagle with the addition of 2 new partners, Bob Monagle and John Schiek. The company added video production, editing and post-production services. Tanner-Monagle designed and built new studio space in late 2006 with specialized acoustics and the latest technology in audio and video recording and post-production equipment.

Meet the Team

John Tanner

John scores, arranges and composes music for television, radio, advertising, film and theatre. He creates original music and sound design for many of the worlds most well known brands and companies. His work has won numerous international Golden Reel Awards; Telly Awards; national, regional and local American Advertising Federation “Addys,” Silver Microphone and RAC awards. John has also garnered both Gold and Platinum sales certification for his studio engineering work.

Bob Monagle

As a professional musician for the past 40 years, and an award winning broadcast editor for the past 20 years, Tanner-Monagle principal Bob Monagle brings a unique perspective to video producing and editing. He combines unparalleled technical capabilities with a sensitivity to how the music, audio and photography come together to create arresting and effective visual communications.

His background in music and music composition, as well as video and audio production make him uniquely qualified to integrate the audio and visual elements necessary for achieving great work. He also directs and produces, and can assemble top-notch television and video production crews to see any project through from concept to completion.

John Schiek

John, the third partner and founder, brings successful entrepreneurial business management experience to Tanner-Monagle. John lives out west and has been passionate about music since age 10.

Ross Monagle

Ross is a video editor and videographer at Tanner-Monagle. He has a passion for producing meaningful videos about people and companies who have a unique story to tell, as well as music videos and documentaries. Outside of TM, when he’s not moonlighting as Dave Murray in an Iron Maiden cover band, Ross can be found hiking with his family, golfing at 5am, and playing in various local bands.

Ric Probst

Ric Probst graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a degree in Radio, Television and Film. After graduation, he quickly got his first studio engineering job at QCA Studio in Cincinnati. He became known for his affinity for jazz, pop and classical music. Then, in 1983, Ric was hired to engineer Midnight Star’s “No Parking on the Dance Floor” and earned his first RIAA certified gold record. Through his work with legendary producers like Reggie Calloway, Ric engineered records for Midnight Star, Bootsy Colllins, Dayton, The OhioPlayers, The Deele (introducing the world to LA Reid and Babyface), Klymaxx, The Whispers, Carrie Lucas, and many more. These projects earned Ric his 5 gold, and 1 double platinum record as engineer.

Ric has recorded three highly acclaimed projects for MSO Concertmaster, Frank Almond and through his busy remote recording schedule, he has worked with some of the finest classical musicians in the world.

Our amazing studio in the historic Blatz Brew House

Located in the historic Blatz Brew House, Tanner-Monagle is an original music composition, video and audio production/post-production studio.

Our award-winning studios were designed for optimum sound and the ability to produce great visuals. Our space includes three fully decked-out audio control rooms, two video suites, two VO booths, and a large recording room/soundstage. Each room is wired to all other rooms for audio, video and data transfer.

Our 25’x32’ soundstage is perfect for small video shoots, mid-size orchestras, bands, and choirs. The room offers a full lighting grid, 600 amp service and complete access to Pro Tools HD system for audio support.
